Blah

Seems like more than a few fic writers around fandom are taking the plunge into the scary world of writing professionally. That's so nice. :) One of my favorite authors started out writing Star Wars fanfiction, and actually adapted one of her stories into a bestselling series. Although, ironically, she doesn't "allow" fanfiction using her characters now.

Edit: Actually, I do understand why most authors don't officially condone fanfic. A little. And to paraphrase my lit teacher, we all enjoy a little hypocrasy.

Pretty icon!

Dammit, I knew I was going to get called out on that 'more than a few' thing. The only names I can remember off the top of my head are [livejournal.com profile] splix and [livejournal.com profile] hominysnark from Star Wars fandom, then there were a couple of ladys in the Wraeththu fandom who actually got their fanwork published. I know there are more out there trying to get published, and I wish them all luck b/c my mom went through that and had a very tough time.

Was that french, btw?

I can't believe I misspelled 'ladies.'

Wow. I know people always say they're getting published but, y'know. That's so cool; I'll check them out.

Don't worry, I can't believe I misspelled "could." :P

*facepalm* Yes, that was French for an equivalent of "to each their own." Almost everything sounds better in French, though, imho. I may be a little biased, however, since I want to major in it. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] splix just recently announced she's starting a novel, but check her out anyway if you're into Q/O, she's awesome.
