The Short (Boring) Second Life of Bree Tanner

Alright, so I thought this novella was pretty okay. I'm glad I didn't have to pay to read it. SMeyer got to show off the newborn gang's shenanigans and redesign Bella into a regular vamp via Bree. But it's definitely mediocre in terms of writing (which is to be expected) but also in terms of creativity and storytelling. I think SMeyer has lost whatever magical touch she had that let her come up with the story behind Twilight. I'm not saying Twilight was superb writing either, but (IMO) there is something special about it nonetheless.

I'm throwing this out there, I think the reason she isn't finishing Midnight Sun is because she just doesn't have "it" anymore. Call me cynical, but why else is she giving her new book away for free? And I think having her be a producer on the Breaking Dawn movies is a huge, huge mistake. Summit should take a look at the reviews for that book on amazon sometime, and then decide whether they want the author bankrolling it. Also, she didn't even want BD to be made into a movie in the first place.

And I'm not even gonna talk about the 2 movie deal. The second part will be the most boring POS ever put on film, unless they embellish the story drastically, which probably won't fly with the producers, considering one of them is the author. It'll be worse than The Soloist. ;)

I agree.
Having not read the Soloist I don't know how different the change from book to movie were but I liked it overall.

i haven't read it yet but just judging by the 178 pages the book is i could tell that it wasn't going to be as good, lol. i mean all of the twilight ones are over 300 and kept growing with each book.

i just want midnight sun. wonder if this might be trying to get her back into the swing of it? lol

and about her being producer. she was co-producer on the other ones and was there during filming just like she is for this one. she is not going to be playing major role. just really a "guide"

She is only listed as producer on the last one, she will definitely have more clout this time. Summit has been working closely with her so far, but the bottom line is if they had felt like ignoring her suggestions and changing the story completely (like what happened to Anne Rice on Queen of the Damned) they could have until this point.

i know she is only listed in this one. but she was one of "silent producers" in the other ones. i have a friend whose boyfriend works on the set of the film so he knows TONS about what is going on. trust me, she has been there doing her thing for all of them.

I can't even be bothered to read it. Idk why but it doesn't appeal to me at all :/

All I can say is, pregnancy squick much??? I have NO idea how on earth they can, um, tactfully? portray Bella's pregnancy and the subsequent birth. C-section by using fangs? Hell no!

I submit that if the baby is in a hard vampire-skin-shell that can only be penetrated by fangs, then she should have been protected from it kicking her and stuff.
